Oops Jar Help

Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 November 2026

The short version

  • We keep what Oops Jar needs to work: your account, your jars and their tallies.
  • Only the people in a jar can see it.
  • Mobile numbers and email addresses you save for people stay on your phone. We only see an email address if you ask Oops Jar to email that person an invite.
  • No ads. We don’t sell your information or share it for advertising.
  • You can delete your account in the app at any time.

Who we are

Oops Jar is run by Weda LLC-FZ, a Meydan Free Zone company in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (licence number 2649503.01). In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Weda LLC-FZ. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the “controller” under data protection law, including UK data protection law for people in the UK.

Questions or requests: email hello@oopsjar.com.

What we keep, and why

Your account
Your email address, your name, and how you sign in (Apple, Google or email). If you sign in with Apple and hide your email, we get an Apple relay address instead of your real one. We use these to sign you in, to show your name to the people in your jars, and to email you about your account.
Your jars
Each jar’s name, what it’s for, the price per slip-up, pay day, and who’s in it. Every +1, with who it was for, who added it and when, and any that were taken back. Pay day records: who owes what, who’s paid, how they said they paid (for example cash or bank transfer), and who collects. Everyone in a jar can see all of this. That’s the point of the jar.
Your mobile number
If you add your mobile number in Your details, we keep it with your account. Only you can see it: the people in your jars can’t. We don’t text you, and we don’t use it for anything else yet. Change or remove it any time.
Your pay link
If you add a pay link (such as Monzo, PayPal or Revolut), we keep it and show it to the people in your jars on pay day, so they can pay you. Remove it any time.
People you add to a jar
When you add someone, we keep the name you type, so the jar can count their +1s, even if they never get the app. Please only add people who’d be happy to be in the jar. If they join, their name in the jar is linked to their own account.
Invites
Invite codes, when an invite went out and who used it, so a jar can show who’s been invited and who joined with a code.
Your phone book
Oops Jar only looks at your contacts when you choose someone, and then only reads that one person. Their name goes into the jar. Their mobile number and email address are saved on your phone only, so you can invite them later. They don’t reach us, unless you ask Oops Jar to email that person an invite (below). They don’t follow you to a new phone, and deleting the app removes them.
Invite emails
If you ask Oops Jar to email someone an invite, we send it from hello@oopsjar.com in your name (for example “Sam via Oops Jar”), with your name, the jar’s name and a link to join. We keep their address with that email for 14 days, so the same invite isn’t sent twice, then delete it. We don’t use it for anything else.
Your plan
Which plan you have, whether you’re on a free trial, and when it renews, ends or had a payment problem. Apple or Google tell us this through RevenueCat, the service we use to manage plans. We never see your card or bank details.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we keep a token for your phone so we can send them, and the settings you choose (which kinds you want, and any jars you’ve muted). Turn them off any time in the app or in your phone’s settings.
Emails we send
Sign-in codes, and emails about your account: a welcome, your free trial starting and ending, your plan starting, changing, renewing, ending or having a payment problem, and your account being deleted. These are about the service you use, not marketing. We keep a record of each email for 14 days so you don’t get the same one twice.
Technical information
Like most online services, the companies that host Oops Jar keep short-lived logs (such as IP address, device type, time and errors) to keep it secure and working.
This website
oopsjar.com doesn’t use cookies or analytics. Our host keeps basic request logs for security.

We don’t currently use analytics in the app. If we add them, we’ll update this policy first.

Our legal reasons

Who helps us run Oops Jar

These companies process information for us, only to provide their service:

Apple and Google also handle your sign-in (if you use them), your payments and the delivery of notifications, under their own privacy policies.

We don’t sell your information or share it with anyone for advertising. We only share it otherwise if the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety.

Where your information goes

Your jars and account are stored in Ireland. We run Oops Jar from the United Arab Emirates, and some of the companies that help us are in the United States. Wherever your information is handled, we protect it as UK data protection law requires: for example through the UK’s data bridge with the US (for companies certified to it), or the UK’s approved contract terms for international transfers.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to limit or object to how we use it, or to move it to another service. Email hello@oopsjar.com from the address on your account. We’ll reply within a month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. If you’re in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113. Elsewhere, you can go to your local data protection authority.

Children

You need to be 13 or over to make an Oops Jar account. A parent or carer can add a child to a jar by first name. We keep only that name, as part of the jar.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels encrypted. Privacy rules in our database mean only the people in a jar can see it. Only a few people who run Oops Jar can reach the database, and only to keep it working.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email first.
